A Settlement has been reached with Mortgage Contracting Services LLC (“MCS” or “Defendant”) in a class action lawsuit. This case is about the targeted cyberattack on MCS' computer systems that occurred on or about December 2023 (the “Data Security Incident”). Certain files that contained private information were accessed. These files may have contained personal information such as full names and Social Security numbers.
The lawsuit is called Lane Gay v. Mortgage Contracting Services LLC, Case No. 4:24-CV-00217. It is pending in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas (the “Litigation”). MCS denies that it did anything wrong, and the Court has not decided who is right. The parties have agreed to settle the lawsuit (the “Settlement”) to avoid the costs and risks, disruptions, and uncertainties of continuing the litigation.
Class Members are defined as residents of the United States who received notice of this Settlement and are entitled to benefits under the Settlement. Class. Members may have also received a previous notice directly from MCS.
